L.D. (Dave) Simon IV – Project Operations Manager
Dave has 27 years of experience in the petroleum industry using superior technical skills during all aspects of operations. He is a third-generation drilling industry descendant in both domestic and international operations. Dave has successfully supervised projects with up to 120 personnel on a daily basis. He has previous operations experience in TX, OK, UT, WY, ND, NM, CA, KS, PA, WV, CO, FL, LA, GOM, Pacific Ocean, West Coast of Africa, Oman, and Abu Dhabi. He spent the first 16 years of his career working directly for some of the industry’s top performing companies including Tom Brown Inc. (Encana Acquisition 2004) and ExxonMobil. In 2006, he founded Total Energy Services, Midland Texas, Division, as an expansion of TES Corporate offices located in Conroe, Texas, to provide consulting, engineering, technical specialties, and project management to Oil and Gas operating companies.
Jaron P. Simon – Sr. Drilling Engineer/Project Operations Mgr.
Jaron received his bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering from Texas Tech University. He is a third-generation drilling industry descendant with 10+ years of industry experience providing engineering, project management and superintendent work covering areas including domestic and international locations. He specializes in horizontal and complex well designs utilizing UBD and MPD technologies. Jaron has operational expertise in TX, LA, WV, PA, OH, CO, NM, OK, KS, ND and the Middle East.
Patrick Wales – Drilling Engineer
Patrick graduated from Texas A&M with a degree in Petroleum Engineering. Before he came to work at TES, he gained rig site experience working as both an intern and full-time MWD Engineer in the Permian (West Texas), the Eagle Ford (South Texas) and the Haynesville (East Texas/ North Louisiana) regions. Since joining the team in 2013, he has focused on Permian Basin projects with several private-equity companies with a scope of duties ranging from staking, permitting, and location construction, to well design and drilling operations. Patrick has had additional experience with horizontal drilling, including shallow San Andres/Grayburg horizontals, and design of Spraberry/Wolfcamp laterals.
Kelly M. Brown – Sr. Drilling Engineer/Project Operations Mgr.
Kelly is a 1993 graduate of Colorado School of Mines with a Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering. After graduation he joined Meridian Oil/Burlington Resources in Houston, Texas working in the drilling group. Following Burlington, Kelly worked for progressively smaller independent companies including Belco Operating, Howell Petroleum, and Proton Energy prior to joining Total Energy Services. Kelly has worked a variety of geologic and geographic areas including South Texas, South Louisiana, East Texas, Anadarko Basin, Texas/Oklahoma Panhandle, Mississippi, Michigan, and the Rockies (DJ Basin, Power River Basin, Big Horn Basin). Kelly’s drilling background has included conventional low pressure as well as geo-pressured environments and he has an extensive background in horizontal and directional drilling with project depths ranging from 1000’ to 20,000’ MD/TVD. Kelly has also spent a considerable portion of his career working completions, workovers, production, acquisitions, and divestitures, so brings a well-rounded E&P company perspective to projects. Kelly has been with Total Energy Services since 2005 and is focused on high integrity and delivering quality work for our client companies while continuously seeking improvement.
Ronnye E. Kettler, Jr. – Sr. Drilling Engineer/Project Operations Mgr.
Ronnye is a 1994 graduate from the University of Texas, Austin with a Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering. Later in his career he also obtained a Master’s in Petroleum Engineering from the same institution. He began his career at Arch Petroleum in Ft. Worth and worked as an Assistant Engineer, aiding the Chief Reservoir engineer with annual reserve reports. Following Arch, Ronnye worked briefly for AGIP, the Italian national oil company in Milan, before joining Conoco (then ConocoPhillips) in Houston in 1998. For almost 10 years, Ronnye worked in COP’s drilling group in both domestic and international locations. After COP, Ronnye worked for several small independent companies, Legend Natural Gas and then Exaro Energy, prior to joining Total Energy Services. His drilling background includes significant time spent working as night drilling supervisor then lead drilling supervisor on a variety of onshore and offshore rigs in South Texas, Dubai, Indonesia, and the North Sea, prior to settling into drilling engineering roles in Qatar, Texas, and the Rockies. His experience has involved primarily drilling projects in a variety of geologic and geographic areas including South Texas (both Eagle Ford and conventional), North Texas (Barnett Shale), East Texas Bossier Shale wells that were high-pressure, high-temperature with expandable liners, and the Rockies. On several projects he was the lead person responsible for driving down drilling times and costs by managing a Technical Limit program. Though primarily a driller, Ronnye has spent time in his career working with completions, production operations, regulatory, acquisitions, and divestitures, thus able to provide a broader perspective to any project. Ronnye has been with Total Energy Services since 2014, and is focused on delivering high quality work and support for our clients.
Lori G. Nolen – Regulatory Analyst
Lori is a native Texan with 3 generations of family ties to the petroleum industry. She started as an educator and worked with all age students—ages 5 through college senior, but has been working for the past 3 years as a Regulatory Analyst; fluent in RRC Permit work including permits for drilling, completion work for any kind of oil, gas, or SWD wells as well as filing for Dyed Diesel Permits with the Texas Comptroller’s Office. Typical regulatory work includes applying and securing all regulatory requirements for Drilling & Completion operations, researching specific field rules for clients for specific projects, and applying for and securing Permits (P-5, W-1, W-2, etc). Lori also researches field rules and evaluates survey plats for accuracy. Lastly, she frequently works on submission of notices with various Texas counties to comply with development operations in City Limits as required. lori@totalenergyservices.us
